Lotus temple " Delhi
"
Conceived in the form of a beautiful lotus, the
temple of Bahai or Lotus Temple identified itself as one of the
seven most important and attractive temples in dedication to the
world’s youngest faith that preaches for oneness in God, religion,
and humanity. This modern temple architecture is a fine blend of
marble, cement, sand and dolomite and is surrounded by a vast sprawling
landscaped of manicured lawns and gardens. The temple is renowned
for being the most visited temple structure in the world and occupies
a significant place in the tourist circuit. There is no bar for
any religion here; people representing different faiths, races,
colors and cultural backgrounds can come and offer their prayers.
Lotus Temple comprises of 27 massive white marble
petals raising out of nine beautiful pools and walkways symbolizing
the nine unifying sacred paths of the Bahai faith. The outermost
petals form the nine entrances all around the outer hall while the
next set of petals (inner leaves), partly closed and rise above
the rest, form the main structure and within which lies the central
hall. It is designed by one of the world’s topmost architects
Mr. Fariburz Sabha from Canada and a Bahai of Iranian descent.
Bahai is the most recent school of thoughts based
on the principles of oneness of God. Founded by Bahá'u'lláh
(1817-1892), whose primary idea is to assist the process of unification
of humanity in one global society. Bahai’s universal power
breaks all the barriers of tradition and nation for the ultimate
oneness that in turn will give birth to a universal civilization.
Unlike other religious temples there is no clergy, no idols, no
pictures, no sermons, and no rituals at the Bahai temple. The only
devotional program that took place here includes simple prayers,
meditations, and selected readings from different holy books.
