Once the Maharana of Mewar met a hermit absorbed in meditation on top of a hillock. The hermit gave his blessing to the Maharana and advised him to built a capital on the very spot he was sitting as it will bring fortune and advantages. In 1550 AD a new city was built on the bank of beautiful Lake Pichola, which became the jewel of Rajasthan and one of the popular desert destination worth visiting.

The City Palace, overlooking the splendid lake Pichola, is the primary attraction in Udaipur.
