Bharatpur is in Rajasthan state of India. It was founded in 1733 by Maharaja Suraj Mal. Bharatpur also being called as LOHAGARH. Set in between two important historical cities of India, is the town of Bharatpur an ornithologist paradise and gateway to one of the world famous water bird sanctuary. The town is also renowned for its splendid forts, palaces and museums and forms the eastern entrance to romantic Rajasthan.
Bharatpur is popularly known for its avian kingdom -the Keoladeo Ghana National Park. It presents one of the largest concentrations of birds in Asia. Once a favorite hunting preserve of the Bharatpur Maharaja, this wet land eco-system attracts hoards of waterfowls and migratory birds every year. Out of the many avian migrants here, the Siberian Crane is a great attraction among visitors. Animals like sambar, chital, nilgai and boar, are also seen in the area.
Another major attraction of the town is the magnificent ruins of Bharatpur Fort, where one can revisit the erstwhile Rajput and Mughal architectural splendors. The main sites to see in this former settlement of a Jat chieftian include the majestic palace and in -house museum that unwinds a host of weapons used by the rulers of that time.

Keoladeo National Park: The Keoladeo National Park or Keoladeo Ghana National Park formerly known as the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary in Rajasthan, India is a famous bird sanctuary that sees (or saw) thousands of rare and highly endangered birds such as the Siberian Crane come here during the winter season. Over 230 species of birds are known to have made the National Park their home. It is also a major tourist centre with scores of ornithologists arriving here in the hibernal season.
Lohagarh Fort:
Lohagarh Fort (Iron fort) is situated at Bharatpur in Rajasthan, India. It was constructed by Bharatpur Jat rulers, Maharaja Suraj Mal.
It is very different from the other forts in Rajasthan state. Some interesting monuments in the fort are Kishori Mahal, Mahal Khas and Kothi Khas. Moti Mahal and towers like Jawahar Burj and Fateh Burj were erected to commemorate the victory over the Mughals and the British army. The Gateway has paintings of huge elephants.
